Usually when the canopy blows over it's time to give it up for the day.

It was windy last weekend when we were shooting 5.56 (55gr) at 100 yards. Wind was blowing to the right and at times headwinds. Target stands were dropping like flies so the POI were off to the right but not too bad.

Grab a ballistic calculator app for your smartphone. Enter a "Test" rifle, use one of the ammunition types in the built-in database, and then play with the wind values. I say a "test" rifle since you are looking for "orders of magnitude" of "how much does wind affect me", rather then "exactly where will my shot go on the target down to the millimeter".

Experiment with it and decide for yourself when you need to worry about wind based on the kind of accuracy you are looking for.

When I'm working on my car. Because I don't have a garage, and I live in the middle of the desert. Don't want dirt and crap blowing into a open motor, or have fluid flying every were. Far as shoot goes, I will shoot in any weather. I shoot in the rain, I don't care.

Probably just you sucking, because I live in a very windy area and never experience this.

It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Guy talks about living in the desert...brags about shooting in the rain.

It only takes a day or two to learn how to read the wind. And it will take the rest of your life learning to call wind correctly.

                  Speed, Direction, Value.

Calling wind correctly & reliably is impossible without a complete and total understanding of the above three. Well, that is if you're not shooting the real caliber rifle that fires magic bullets. You know, the one's with erasers on the tip of the bullet. Says so right here on the box next to the price tag.

Phlebitis: interesting choice of username, troll much? How is DU treating you these days?

Snowflake. crawl back in your basement and wait for mommy to bring you a sammich.

And in all fairness, just because JMB did it doesn't mean anything. He'd have won WWII with a soup can, a fork, and a couple rocks. Seriously, even McGuyver and Steven Hawking get together every now and then and are like "How the **** did he do that?..."
