Several years ago I was looking for a conversion slide and ran across several on Gunbroker.

Most were fixed sight and not in great condition with prices in the $300-$500 dollar range.

I found one with Bomar sights and everything but the barrel bushing and paid $500 which was a heck of a lot. It was the best one I could find at the time.

Further details I believe it was milled for the new sight and reblued. The new sight could never be cranked down low enough to work with the front sight and the sight was damaged.

I eventually installed a Gold Cup front sight and a Champion rear sight which worked after the front sight was cut down to .150"

I know that this is more information than you asked for but it may be helpful when shopping for the conversion unit.

BTW I had to tune the extractor as it would FTE.

The conversion unit I purchased was a series 80 with the FP block removed.

If they made a series 70 conversion then I would like to know.

Is it a genuine Colt or aftermarket? I'll see if I have a picture handy of the unit to post.

What I read about these conversions was that they were not very popular so they did not sell well.

It has been several years since I have reviewed this so things may have changed.

I did the complete conversion which required installing a new ejector. I'm not sure how well the ACP ejector will work.

I assumed it was series 70 but now I dig it out it is a 80series with f/p block removed. Everything but the ejector. Really nice shape and factory adjustable sights plus one mag. I was thinking of selling it but have no clue of the value.

Series 80 as I suspected as I never ran across a series 70.

I'm sure that you will have no problem selling as 9mm in a 1911 frame is much more popular now.

Depending on condition the price range will probably be the same as I posted.

Anymore and one could almost buy a complete gun but anything Colt sells.

          Good luck.

Many, many years ago there was an article in Guns and Ammo about building a multi-caliber 1911. The author used a Series 70 in .38 Super as the base. To convert it to 9mm, all he did was get a 9mm top end and a magazine. No need to change the ejector.

To convert it to .45 acp, he used a Commander top end and a magazine. He didn't need to change the ejector. The Commander slide works with a .38 Super ejector. For a .22 rimfire, he just used a Colt .22 Conversion and magazine.

I had a .38 Super at the time and thought I'd try duplicating the package. Found a Commander slide and had the .22 Conversion. Found a 9mm conversion kit. Everything worked just as described in the article, but accuracy was just so-so. Eventually sold everything except the .38 Super and .22 conversion.

Hard to say how much a 9mm conversion would be worth. Probably the same or more than a complete Glock 17.
