I'm in RENO - What to get?

Guys,

I am in Reno just for another day. Any ideas what I should get? Can't get ammo, don't wanna have issues at the border. (My car doesn't have CA plates. Just bought an out of state car a couple of weeks ago, still not registered in CA).

So what are your suggestions? (Stuff related to AR, 12G Mossy 500, P226, Sheild....Etc, etc, etc)

Hey, I was up in Minden area a couple weeks ago visiting a friend that lives in Dayton. Drove around casually looking at areas as a possible retirement move.
I could get used to the Genoa Bar as one of my watering holes.

The only thing is get when I go to gun stores in Reno is jealous.

If you need mags, go to harbor freight, buy a rivet gun and cordless drill, then buy a bunch of cheap mags at scheels and modify them to 10 rounds before driving home.

i have never been stopped and I carry everything in a locked box in the trunk. None of the cops business even if they stop me for speeding. Most gun shops around Minden/Gardnerville just assume any ammo you buy you are going to use at the local range even with California plates. Probable cause is hard to prove on a traffic stop even unless they see it in the open. As for the inspection stations show them your temp california registration or your bill of sale and say you are transporting the car back to california to register it since a vin check will be done at the local DMV. No grounds to search the car even there that I know of but I am no lawyer. A house would be nice but the prices are kind of high thanks to everyone fleeing this state.

Stay away from Genoa - neat place but gets dark and cold real early when the sun passes the top of the mountain. Are all the undergarments still hanging on the ceiling of the bar? A friend was building houses in Minden/Gardnerville in the 70s & 80s for transplants. Everyone from CA wanted a retirement home with 6,000 sqft for 2 people. We looked at land but each time we went there it had taken a $1-5,000 per acre jump. What started as a barely buildable $1,300 acre my friends mom bought turned into a $42,000 profit in 5 years.

And one more time, the ammo import violation is an infraction, like jaywalking. I have passed through AG inspection stations (and that is ALL they care about) numerous times this year. Worst that ever happened is I had to slow down.

This paranoia about getting searched the border is absurd.

And there is aero reason to show the inspection station your temp registration, since they do not care about DMV, because ALL they care about is fruits and veggies, etc.
