Gunbroker FUD...GRRRR!

I've been looking for a decent AK parts kit and last night finally found an ad on another board for a decent price. So I post the "I'll take it" and follow up with a PM asking for a shipping total and where to send the payment.

So. I get two PM's back, the first with the total and the second with an apology. The seller states that according to Gunbroker's site(I will try and verify this in a bit), it's illegal to possess a parts kit in California so he cannot ship the kit to me!

I sent him a PM asking him to reconsider and a link to this site. I'm hoping that he will spend the time to look around here and change his mind.

GRRRR!

I found the passage that I'm assuming this seller read: "And certain types of items are illegal in certain places - for example 'assault weapons' cannot be sold in California and...". So, this appears to be a misinterpretation on the sellers part, not Gunbroker FUD.

Always ask first if they will ship to CA.

Yes, always ask. Just last week there was a receiver for sale on GB. The seller stated he would not ship firearms to California. I asked about the receiver and he said, that it might be possible and would look into it. I forwarded some CA DOJ links and the CG flow chart. Guess what! He removed the no CA sales. And said, bid away. I won!!!

Yea, had that problem this week on an auction I won. He wouldn't ship the legal parts kit (no mag) to California. His auction said nothing about NOT shipping to CA.

So, when he got my PayPal payment he all freaked out and said that there was a problem. He can't ship Assault Weapons to California, this was just a parts kit.

Having him send it to a friend out of state, who then will ship the LEGAL parts kit to me. What a hassle...

2. Listing. Placing an item for auction is an irrevocable offer to sell an item to the winning bidder. If his listing did not state "No California Sales" and the item is legal in CA, then he is obligated by Gunbroker's rules to honor the deal. I had this type of thing happen once buying a FN-49. I pointed out the rules, that the rifle is legal in CA., and that I expected the seller to honor the contract or I would report it to Gunbroker. The seller then shipped the rifle.

Damm, I missed the part where you stated "other board" Check the board rules, maybe they have rules that will apply.

Good news! After the seller reviewed this site and took it upon himself to check out the Ca. BOF site, he's decided that he will ship me the kit!

It really sucks that our state laws are so convoluted that the rest of the country is afraid to deal with us...

that is pretty good...maybe calguns should have a forum or thread we can refer out of state sellers to so we can show them there fears are unfounded. something simple that points out the facts for them...
