Yes, the media use the very term ASSAULT WEAPON as a verbal weapon against gun rights. They draw the term assault weapon like a mean gunslinger draws his six-shooter.


Gradually, they are trying to instill in people's' minds that anything that goes BANG! is an ASSAULT WEAPON and is somehow EVIL.

We saw this after Newtown shooting a few years back - while Democrats at the national level called for the new AW ban because "those guns are much more deadly than any other guns," their counterparts, the CA Democrats, were saying to us "you're right, AWs are no different than any other semi-automatic rifles, let's ban them all."

The real problem with a shooting like this is that it forces antis to jump way ahead of their desired schedule and call for the complete ban of all guns. The "Australia style ban."

I guarantee you that we have a lot of sad antis today and it's certainly not because some kids lost their lives...

It's a cultural war. They want to demonize gun culture and gun owners. Even Eric Holder said so, when he suggested gun owners should be attacked like tobacco smokers - culturally.

"Assault weapon" is a derogatory term that is easy to link to the overall gun culture. That's why they use it.

Be careful what you wish for. I know someone very well that was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon in CA for just a fist fight defending his family from a drunk punk. He was a golden glove boxer in college, and of course messed the guy up bad. DA went after him and won, lost his gun rights forever....
