I have been on vacation and have been visiting random gun stores while away from home. So far I have picked up a couple of firearms, one was a WWII byf44 code (Mauser) P38 I found in a very small gun store in Payson AZ. I collect military firearms and while I don't specifically seek out WWII German guns, but when I find what I consider a good deal on one I will pick it up. This one was well priced and was complete with two original magazines and holster, so getting it was a no-brainer.
The other is a Chinese SKS. I am not a Chinese firearm collector (although I seem to have a few) but I have liked SKS rifles for a while and while I know they aren't tack drivers, the general simplicity and ruggedness of them appeal to me.
When I still lived in Commiefornia, I viewed them as a viable option to having a featureless AR/AK type rifle and are fun blasters. Before I get the comments about their ho-hum accuracy, remember that they were not designed as target arms and since I find sitting on my butt at a bench to be as exciting as watching paint dry, they are well suited to my shooting style. Also I have found that if they are fed better quality ammo they do tend to shoot a little better.
Anyway, I am currently in Kanab, UT and visited a small gun store yesterday. Not much there that really attracted my interest except a couple of Yugo 24/47's in excellent condition ($255 ea) and a couple Chinese SKS's @ $295 ea. While I am out here in the southwest I thought it might be nice to have a cheap blaster for some fun in the desert, so I picked what I thought was the nicer of the two.
Since I live in Nevada, I can pay for and receive possession of a longarm once I pass the background check, so a half hour after I walked into the store the SKS walked out with me. The P38 I had to have sent to my local FFL in Nevada and I will pick it up when I get home.
The P38:
Matching numbers throughout and correct Mauser magazines.

The SKS:
It didn't come with the bayonet, but I have the correct one at home, so when I get back I can make it complete. Like the P38 all numbers match.
