Did my first gun leather project

Got into leatherworking very recently. Started off small and made a cartridge holder for my lever action. Pretty happy with how it came out. Im hoping to get better with tooling so I can add in some designs and embellishments.

Attached photos. Sorry, I have no idea why it uploaded upside down.

Those shell holders always compliment a lever action rifle...seems to fit the part! Looks nice op good luck with your next venture.

Dude that looks stellar.....way better looking than most of the stuff on the market.

Wanna make one for my JM guide gun??

        I have cash!

Thanks for sharing that. I would love to see more of your work.

I like the little extra detail you've put into it..

            Agree with the others.

I don't mean to get personal, here, but that's one of the nicer butt cuffs I've ever seen.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm glad you all like it. I just couldnt put some cheap Chinese junk on my rifle.

And yes, I can make one for your guide gun if you are willing to wait for it.... My fingertips are still raw from all the stitching!

Haha, maybe someday when my skills are better. This is the first project where I successfully stitched in straight lines.

OP yours is very nice. I would have guessed you had been making them for years. It looks like you might have embossed the leather too?

I also made one this week, not as refined but then again neither is the shotgun it went on. I was going for a minimalist look, which is a good thing because I don't have any leather tools or leather skills yet And all I had were scraps of leather.

Now I have to make some. I have a huge scrap leather collection. Made a few knife sheaths, and grips for my bow. Now I have another project to do lol

Just curious.... I grewup in Indiana in the 60, did you all have "leather" in high school shop class?

Both of these would have been great projects, vs. the eyeglass case I made for my dad.
