    Moving to Vegas

I am buying a home in Vegas and just wanted to ask if anybody here is familiar with nevada gun laws as to possession and carry. I heard that utah CCW will allow me to carry in NV. I also understand that class 3 firearms are also would be at 6-8 month reach after paperwork. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since you're moving to Vegas, you'll have lots of fun getting your "Blue Card" in Clark County when you buy your first handgun. I believe you'll have to register all your handguns with the Clark County SO within 60 days of moving in. Please see here: http://ordlink.com/codes/clarknv/_DA...n_of_fire.html

Congrats on your move, please come back and visit us?

Yes, the Utah Permit is BETTER than the Nevada Permit...

With the Nevada permit, you must qualify with each firearm you carry, not so with Utah. Carry any legally owned pistol you desire.

The Nevada class is an 8 hour class + firearm qualification. Utah is a 4 hour class, no qualification. The Utah permit is valid in more states.

I am not sure 100% that Nevada honors the Utah permit for residents of Nevada. Anyone know for sure? I know they honor it for anyone who isn't actually a Nevada resident.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

What your forgetting is that he will become a Nevada resident.

Many States will not honor a CW Permit from another State for a resident of their State(make any sense?).

I know that in Texas you can not use a Utah CW permit if you are a Texas resident. You must have a Texas permit. You can have a Utah for other States but not for your resident State.

As a NV resident, you will have to have a NV permit (one of the lamer shall-issue permits in the country). You will need to show a piece of butt-wipe called a 'blue card' (which is available free from metro [police] for guns you already own) in order to shoot for qualification for a CHL. Guns are listed by make / model / caliber on your CHL except for 'revolver' which is generic.

When you buy a new pistol, the state steals $25 for a background check and Clark County makes you wait 3 days to pick it up unless you can show the dealer the blue butt wipe.

This is new but check it out. Since you're a Calguns.net member you have a pretty good idea what it might become:
The place for Nevadans to discuss guns and gun issues. Check out our gun classifieds to buy and sell!
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Thanks for the correction guys, I wasn't aware of that.

Should have looked it up before I opened my mouth!

              2. A person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to NRS 202.3689 may not carry a concealed firearm in this State if the person:

              (a) Becomes a resident of this State; and

              (b) Has not been issued a permit from the sheriff of the county in which he resides within 60 days after becoming a resident of this State.
