It's Sad That The Gun Community Eats Its Own

I'm a fairly new gun enthusiast and having a blast. I've acquired a few cool guns and I seem to have an aptitude for shooting accurately. My "day gig" is I'm a CPA so I am fully aware of the law of supply and demand. I find it really sad that, with all of the gun-grabbers wanting to keep us from buying the "toys" we want, that gun stores charge ABOVE MSRP and those that mange to get off-roster guns try to rape anyone for as much money as they can. Again, I TOTALLY get it, but it's sad that we don't support each other, rather than seeing an off-roster gun as a gold mine to milk as much as we can. I managed to acquire a Glock 42 and could probably get a lot for it, but my conscience wouldn't allow me to try to sell if for $300 to $500 more than I have in it. I have no desire to sell it, but I would rather have the warm and fuzzy feeling of giving someone a great deal and flipping the Liberals the proverbial finger and help someone else out than to take advantage of someone that desperately wants something the liberal, idiot politicians think we aren't responsible enough to own.

Same thing with retail stores selling products for above MSRP. I just don't get it. The industry is struggling to survive and keep the 2A alive and you want to overcharge the people that are trying to keep the industry going. We need to fight for the future of the 2nd amendment and stick together, rather than trying to stick it to each other for every penny we can squeeze out of a fellow "gun guy".

Again, I totally understand why the market is what it is, but I'm really disappointed in those asking $1,000+ for a $450 Glock 43. Because of that, I'm looking forward to the release of the SS80. The Agency Arms slogan is "Welcome to the brotherhood". It seems there is no brotherhood among most of us. We should be helping each other but, sadly, that is NOT the case.

Not this again. Do you realize the effort and money some of us have expended to get certain off roster guns? Why would we resell them for less? People have traveled 400-500 miles one way 4x to get off roster guns they wanted.

Or looked for years for certain ones.

If the industry is struggling to survive, shouldn't you as the consumer be arguing that customers should overpay in stores to keep profit margins high, rather than underpay and keep margins thin? You want those stores to continue to thrive, no? It's not cheap to run a business here in California.

In private sales, why does the "brotherhood" require that buyers be put above sellers? Shouldn't you be estatic to overpay a fellow gun owner for an off roster firearm? After all, the seller could then take that money and buy more new guns, strengthening the market.

Anyways, it's goofy to think that this is a question of morality.

If a price is acceptable, pay it. If it's too high for you, then don't. If stores are charging too much, then there is an opportunity for you to step in and undercut those prices...

i assume some sellers "got raped" when they bought it, and will "get raped" again when they spend your money on the next off roster gun.

but yeah, seeing the legion i wtb listed for 2k or more does grind my gears a bit.
                    that's a game i'm not buying into.

OP claims he is a CPA....yet fails to understand basic capitalistic market forces and drivers of supply and demand.

OP must really freak-out when people sell their houses for more than they paid.

Not really. He said several times that he understands the motivating factor, but he's just disappointed by it.

I agree with him, I just stay silent and pass on anything that I'm not willing to overpay for.

remember we should not be angry at each other but at the corrupted system that created this abomination we know as a roster list. It is an apparent attempt to blackmail the gun manufacturers into paying to play much like the old mafia protection rackets of the 1930's. Then something called the Rico act was enacted but I do not see anyone trying to use it against the state or DOJ. maybe that would be something to think about. But then I am not a lawyer as has been pointed out in the past.
