My Googlefu says this is a Stoner 63A bipod.
I have this in my collection, must have had it for 20 plus years, it seems to be in an otherwise empty XM-3 bipod pouch. Neither the bipod or the pouch have any markings, other than calling it a brown recluse, can someone else help me with the identification or perhaps why in hell did I end up with it? Someone may have sold it to me for use on an M1A, but I was too afraid of scratching up the gun to use it -? That is the only thing that comes to mind now, mind you I am an old fart with a less than perfect memory.
I read that these are rare now, but it's not like people have Stoner 63A's stacked in their gun safes.
The "US" does appear - old and faded - on the pouch.
