See above post. There are so many details in this post that you can't see the forest for the trees, or you can't see the trees for the forest. It's all so confusing!

We know the following: There are drops of blood on the floor and someone may or may not have gotten a bloody nose!

And now you have a "biohazard." Goodluck with the that. Remember correct ration of water to bleach, correct dispossal of cleaning items or proper disencting of them, etc, etc.

Who wants to bet they used the mop and bucket to clean up this mess, the same one they use in bathrooms, etc. ��

The guy was packing up and he dropped the hammer on his pistol before putting it in his range bag. Unfortunately there was a round in the chamber.

He was ok and talking to people when the paramedics wheeled him out.

I noticed lots of senior citizens are like that around firearms, when they get older sometimes they get confused easily or senile and make mistakes the same with driving

I was on a fishing trip on a charter boat and a senior citizen kept saying thats my fish when I reeled my catch in still attached to my line, he got so confused in the excitement he didnt even know what was going on and accused me of taking his fish?

This is where shooting action matches would really help - we have strict protocols that are easy to follow and they become a second nature. After shooting, ensure clear, point downrange and pull the trigger. If there is a round, there will be no injury.

As a side note, I've had an ND of this kind at the local range. Towards the end of the training session, I pulled the mag out, cleared the gun, pulled the trigger and it went "bang." Of course, it was pointed in the safe direction and it didn't look like an ND, but *I* knew it was an ND so it was the end of my day that day.

It was also a very important lesson for the "ensure clear" part - don't just glance. Perform an actual inspection, particularly of the chamber. It's too easy to get complacent and count on catching the ejected round in the air as a way to know the gun is clear. When you run dry, or mag remains in the gun, or extractor doesn't catch the round, all sorts of things happen if you rush through "clear, pull the trigger." I am still not sure which of the steps I performed incorrectly at the time, but I know two things: (1) whatever my standard process was, it didn't happen at the time, and (2) I did NOT visually confirm empty chamber, at least not correctly.

Things happen. That's why we have multiple safety rules. Every time you do something stupid, it should be a lesson to change your habits and go back to basics.

Incidents like these are exactly why I carry my IFAK (trauma kit) in my shooting bag. Several times at FT3 Tactical I've left due to people with absolutely no business being there and the RSO's being oblivious.

45 minutes after opening, he wanted no time shooting himeself in the leg, hopefully it was just a 22 which probably gas a much smaller exit wound then a 9mm. That's a great shooting range! Hope this little incident doesn't scare you away from future range time.
