Will be in San Jose tomorrow

Hi anyone in the San Jose area know of any good rifle ranges Nearby? I will be there tomorrow. Also if you know what kinds of ammo is acceptable too that would be great. Thanks.

San Jose field sports park (also called Metcalf range). AFAIK there are no ammo restrictions.

It depends if you have your gun(s) with you. The nice outdoor ones don't rent. The nicest nearby indoor range where they rent is Reeds. Stay away from TargetMasters.

Ammo restrictions??? Hahahah, where are you from, SoCal?
      J/K, no tracers, that's all.

Thanks everyone, I will have some rifles with me tomorrow. I'm from Fresno and everyone does not allow anything magnetic.

If you want to take a little bit of a drive up into the hills, Los Altos Rod & Gun.

Beware though, people were gaming the admission system, i.e. people not paying for their 5 tag-along friends who were shooting, so you will probably have to take a written test to get a wrist band.

+ on the Metcalf range. They have a great staff there. You should go early though.

This is becoming more common here in the Bay Area, my home club, Richmond Rod & Gun, no longer allows steel core nor steel jacketed ammo to be used at their ranges.

I know Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club in the south bay will not let you shoot any M855 green tip 5.56mm/.223 ammo or anything with a steel core, at least the RSO wouldn't let me shoot it, the steel jacketed stuff they don't seem to care about.

It's for insurance reasons, according to everybody there I've spoken to. Pretty sure they're right.

Bring a trap or skeet gun and do sporting clays at coyote valley instead

They rent skeet and trap guns as well. Really a fun place.
