TV Heroes Gun

Sorry may have been asked before. On the TV show hereos they have a massive hand cannon that I was wondering about. It's ergonomics seem out the window, maybe it is just the long barrel. It seems to be the gun of choice on this show. What gun is this?

With that comp, that hand cannon is more manageable. IN reality (of course TV isn't reality is it?), when do you see service/department issued pistols with comps?
