    M60E6 or M240-SLR or ???

I know opinions are like a__holes, everybody has one, but if you had the opportunity which 7.62 NATO beltfed would you choose as your next CA featureless rifle. Assume you already have an ample supply of M13 linked ammo from a crew weapon.

M60. I've always loved the look, fire rate and sound of them. The 240's are cool too, they're just massively long, and the E6 has all the cool rails and modularity.

    Plus the M60 is iconic.

M240. I have sold a few at a great price to Calgunners. A friend has a full auto and it is pretty nice.

        M240

M60 is not durable and will fail over time, unless you constantly maintain it (replace worn parts, including the receiver).

The M60 was on top of my list for a long time but MK48 just seems perfect.

I think a big heavy weapon with a fin grip is going to be insanely uncomfortable.

240 would be the ticket for me. The M60 is nostalgic, but not a mechanically sound as the 240.

And insanely fun. Because belt fed, why not.

My vote goes for the 240.

After the last belt fed thread it got me thinking. Just picked up an hk21, with an hk23 conversion kit

FWIW it took us exactly 14,800 (+/- a belt worth, we accounted for remaining ammo afterwards) rounds to stop an M240. The gas regulator plugged with copper rendering it single shot. All that kept it going for those 3 hours was a squirt bottle of CLP. This was done qualifying an entire company of crew chiefs for aerial gunnery, M240H.

The M240 is a very impressive machine gun.

The M249 also. I gauged 249 barrels that were no longer straight from excessive sustained fire but the guns themselves were still going just fine and continued to function.

My FA thrill was putting a 500 round belt through an M60 at Ft. Meade one snowy day right before Thanksgiving on one pull of the trigger. We had linked the remaining belts into one to use it up. Didn't want to turn in any remaining ammo you know. I was personally surprised that the gun had enough power to pull the belt through after a day of range qual and the cold weather but it worked just fine.

I'd go with the M240 Semi as well if price was no object. A great 'budget gun' is a quality semi 1919.

Thanks guys. This was really helpful and also gave me some additional ideas for the future. It looks like an M240 to replace the M249 that was confiscated by my wife.
