    Doubling down on their stupidity...

Guns don't kill criminals, would have been victims do.

Wow. Don't know if it's a publicly traded company, but if it is I bet the shareholder won't be very happy with that write off

      That's great news!

What they believe they are doing is "virtue signaling," what they are really doing is buying all of those rifles and supporting gun manufacturers.

I wish more antis would buy guns just so they can publicly destroy them...

LOL at all the goofs on CG that have been supporting Dicks, so they could save 3 cents on a sale item.

          Wow!

But then again, nothing less than I would expect dicks to do.

so let me get this straight

guns they have ALREADY purchased will be destroyed instead of sold or returned to the vendor for credit

exactly HOW does that hurt the manufacturer's?

if i was a shareholder i'd definitely be screaming to high heaven, they're already losing business over this stupid decision

^ That's what it sounds like from the article.

The Dick's near me has mostly shot guns (hunting and trap type, nothing "tactical"). They must have a substantial inventory just in that one store.

Perhaps they are going to set some future date for the "destruction", and run a "fire sale" first to try and liquidate most of their inventory at or slightly above cost first?

And how do they expect to be refunded by the company they bought them from? Hopefully, the destruction of those weapons WIPES 'em out financially.

Companies scrap stuff all the time. It's really not uncommon and they write off the loss. However, as it's already been discussed, Dicks (they are) didn't really sell much in the way of "assault weapons" to begin with. So what are they actually destroying? Some Magpul pistol grips? Mags? It doesn't seem like it would add up to much anyway. Just so they can blame their low sales on making a political stand.

My understanding is that they own field and stream, and sold ARs at those stores. The two dicks stores by me do not sell any ARs or anything even remotely close to it.

I just looked at field and streams website and their centerfire rifle selection consists of a bunch of bolt actions and a couple mini 14s, which apparently aren’t as “assaulty” looking as an AR even though they shoot the exact same round, at the exact same speed, reload in the same manner, etc. silly libtards.
