      It's based off the ARES FMG, which was designed in 1984.

      ARES FMG = 1st gen (1984)
      Boatman UC-M21 (UC9) = 2nd gen (1985-1986, these are all fully transferable Title 2 MG)
      KBP PP-90, PP-90M, PP-92 = 3rd gen (1990-1998)
      Magpul FMG-9 = 4th gen (2008 proof of concept, lives on in video games and as airsoft)
