What sniping point? If the "GOP" governor was willing to sign the new restriction into law, he is clearly not concerned about any potential backlash from it. Wouldn't he be more hesitant to sign this if the voters in that state cared enough about RKBA to react in the next election?

Wake up and smell the spoiled maple syrup, Vermont of today is not Vermont of 1988. Heck their "moderate" senator is Leahy. What does that tell you about ho much Vermont voters care about RKBA?

But a state consistently voting for outspoken anti-gun presidential and senatorial candidates reflects nothing of their change in stance on RKBA?

Correct; it means nothing as it relates to my point. Despite who they voted for, they are (or at least were) one of the least restrictive states in the US when it comes to the RKBA.

they got a lot of the minor restrictions now in place that we have here in CA.

won't take that much more effort to then start adding in the AW restriction, ban by features, a handgun roster, etc.
