Why no love for 6.5 Grendel?

I've been shooting 6.5 Grendel for the past few months and I am puzzled why it seems to be the forgotten caliber. Accurately reaches out to 600 yards (probably can go a bit further) without the recoil of a .308. I have ignored bolt actions in .243 & .270 as 6.5 Grendel (in AR platform) for me is an easier caliber to shoot for distance.

So...I ask because while I loaded up on ammo prior to last December 31, I've already shot 280 rounds in the last several weeks. Other than Ammo Bros in SoCal, nobody carries the round. Turners, Walmart, Big 5, LAX Ammo, Oaktree, Angeles, Retting. Not only do they not carry the caliber but they won't place an order for it (in bulk).

Tell me how this niche caliber fits?

    What problem does it solve?

    I don’t hunt at 600 yards

What does it accomplish that a 77 grain or 62 grain in .223 does not solve ?

Just bought 600 rounds of Hornady American Gunner ammo in 6.5 Grendel at Sportsman's Whorehouse for 75 cents per round out the door.

It's the secret AR caliber that most people have never heard of. Too bad for them.

My guess would be availability, abundance and cost

I had one for a while, 10 or so years ago. Loved it. Sold it to play with other stuff. Wouldn't mind rebuilding the exact same setup as it shot REALLY well.

I sell cases of Grendel ammo,

Noone else seems to carry it, I've had people drive 90 miles to pick some up because I keep it in stock.

Starting to play with a 18" upper. Really like it. I'm planning to start extending the range in the near future. While it's zeroed with Hornady sst's, I like that you can get cheap wolf ammo for it. I use the wolf when other people want to try the rifle out.

IMHO the round is hampered by all of the confusing type i/ii chamber and bolt combos, and the controversies about what is best.

There are others for bolt guns that do the same or better.

Have had a couple since the middle of last year, a 20" Odin and a 24" Alexander Arms Over Watch. Fun Guns to say the least!
