    10/22 magazine

I am talking about a high capacity magazine.
I recently found two 30 round mags in my dads colection, but I don't see any dates on them only patent numbers and he is no longer here to ask when they were bought.

It is not aganist the law to find or possess large capacity magazines.

Hard call, did he leave you those mags as part of an estate? If so I believe that is a transfer if I understand the law correctly, however receiving them is not illegal, and unless they plan on going after someone who is dead, they have no case against anyone. If you just found them, then I assume it's legal as well. If your dad is still alive, but not around, like moved and left them behind, then I would also assume that it's legal to recieve them, but he might be in trouble if he purposely left them there for you.
The law does not cover buy, find, recieve, e.t.c only selling, importing, making, e.t.c..
So it would seem you are in the clear, but I am sure another member with more knowledge on the subject can clear up anything I missed.

There isn't anything official that states he left them to me. they were just there like all the rest of his guns.

You dont need proof, if thats what your asking.

If he just left them for you then it's not illegal to recieve them or find them.
Possession is not illegal.. period. Selling, exposing for sale, importing, making, lending is illegal. Possession, finding, receiving, buying is not illegal.
Your basically legal, you dad, depending on how he gave them to you will be the one at fault. If he is dead (I am guessing based on your wording) then it's no matter. If he just left them for you(and he's alive) then thats illegal (for him not you)
If he just got up and left one day, and left all of his stuff, and did not just the guns with the mags then he may be off the hook, I am sure some case law comes into effect here, as he didn't have the intent to accually give them to you, at this point I would contact an attorney. (Remember it's still not illegal to recieve them so your in the clear)

(BTW.. I am not an attorney, DO NOT take this as offical legal advise)
