How can you tell if it was manufactured before the ban

Are you referring to High Capacity? Is there a date on it? its not Illegal to have one, its only illegal to trade, sell, import, manufacture...etc.

Does anyone know of any situations where a person has gotten in trouble for having a hi cap and gotten out of it because of the wording of the law? Also, has anyone ever been charged for having a hicap 10/22 mag? I would like to have one but am a little wary of getting in trouble.

id say its kind of like downloading songs for free.

i have no clue.

but i dont own any illegal parts or guns so i have never had to face this problem.

when i mean the no one cares part i mean the fact that it is a .22 and it will only see time at the range/dessert.

i think most of you guys on hear are great, but a little to paranoid.

the only time you are going to get busted imo is if cops raid your house for a different reason then discover that.

but if they are searching through your home your already busted.

and if you get pulled over on the way to/from the range and they search your car your already in trouble because they probably saw something suspicious in the first place.

I understand what you are saying Travis. I used to think the same thing but realized that the chance of getting locked up is not worth the extra couple of rounds. I will admit I am paranoid though. lol.

Cops are humans to and the want to go shooting not bust someones chops because they found thirty round mags for a .22

Another thing to throw in is not all cops no gun laws like our fine selves on calguns.
Went shooting with my uncles buddy who is lapd and he thought the 10rd mag limit was repealed haha.
Turns out it was but for Leo only.

Thats one of the best reasons to be cautious, if they knew the laws as well as us we wouldn't have half of the problems that we do. Yes its legal to own hi caps, but if they were obtained illegally there is a chanch something very bad could come of it. And the caliber doesn't matter, it is a felony either way. Im just saying to be carefull out there no matter what.

The 30 round mags at std capacity not hi caps...
