I like Optics Planet, have purchased many items from them over the years, and they have some of the best deals you can find on the net, if you wait for their coupons which come around fairly often.

I am well aware of more recent measures they had to take for complaince and to avoid getting shut down. I do not blame them. I blame California, its legislators and general population for allowing legislators to assault our fundamental rights.

I will continue to patronize Optics Planet because I am still able to get most if not all my gun parts needs, and I believe some of you guys are having some pretty misguided reactions to the recent measures, which are merely precautionary on their part.

You can patronize them (and those like them that are still trying to offer what we want at competitive prices), or boycott and encourage others to do so... And watch, with 100% certainty, the doubling of prices as a result of legislative measures that ultimately force shortages in the marketplace.

Many of you are barking up the wrong tree.

You and Optics Planet are flat out wrong though.

Not selling uppers to California because they have flash hiders is no different than all the retailers and credit card companies MAKING UP THEIR OWN GUN LAWS when NO SUCH LAWS EXIST.

There is nothing in the California penal code that bans the sale or possession of flash hiders or uppers with flash hiders.

Where is the precaution? What is the precaution? What law are they afraid of violating? The only reasoning could be that a flash hider is a characteristic of an "assault weapon". But so are pistol grips, forward grips and collapsable stocks and last I checked, they have no problems selling those to California.

The fact is that Optics Planet has self-legislated California customers for absolutely no reason and without any logic whatsoever. They should constantly be reminded of that and boycotted for the same reasons we boycott REI, Citibank, DICK's, and any other company that imposes, via company policy, more gun control on us.

THank you Tony, most especially for your gigantic font. At my age and astigmatism, it helps, although it makes you sound pretty pissed off.

I am well aware of that. So they don't want to send uppers. I'm not going to react like a child, throw tantrums, boycott and spread hate for it on the internet. That will ultimately just rebound negatively into the marketplace and ultimately to me, in a way I have seen a million times before.

They still have numerous other parts that can be bought much better prices than most other places... a lot more. if I can't get an upper or a flash hider I'm not going to kill the relationship over it, much less encourage others to do so. They are generally reasonable.

This is probably what amazes me the most about CA gun owners.

We'd sell our souls for an 11% discount.

Edit: Where would you draw the line?
                        • If they only sold AR accessories to someone 21yo?
                        • If they stopped selling all AR accessories to CA?
                        • What if they would sell flash hiders, or uppers with flash hiders if you passed a background check?

The issue is that Planet Optics flat out lies to their customers. I ordered a Nordic 22 upper. The next day they cancelled the order indication it was not allowed to ship to CA (Lie #1). I called and asked why and they said it was a restriction that Nordic placed on them. (Lie #2). I called Nordic who informed me they had no such restriction. So I ordered from Grab A Gun. No problem. You have to ask yourself do you want to do business with a company that is willing to lie to its customers,

I'm really not sure where I draw the line. Things are changing very fast, I guess I would start with the Banks who have nothing at all to do with guns. I hate them for getting involved, among other intentionally abusive practices.

I've lived in and personally experienced countries that do allow its citizens to be armed, but with such tight restrictions on sale of the firearms and parts themselves, vendors have tremendous barriers to cross just to be able to offer the goodies we like. It chokes off supply. Guess what happens next ... not only a vertical rise in prices, but increased corruption and cheating among both the privileged and those looking to get around the rules. Who suffers?

It's not a matter of selling ones soul for lower prices. It's a matter of whom whom we probably should continue to support and to whom we direct our anger towards ... who deserves it the most, and who doesn't.
                            .

So why would you support a company that self-restricts firearms parts sales to CA? Our legislature did not tell any retailers they couldn't ship things with flash hiders here. Optics Planet is doing exactly what you describe at the behest of their own company policy.

I had a horrible experience with optics planet. I'll never use them again.
