This is like a 270 versus 30-06 debate and often turns into mud slinging.

I will say if you ever saw some 22RF barrels that 3 piece alum rods were used on after they were cut lengthwise and see that the rifling in the middle is gone you would stop using them.
You will not see the benchrest pros using a 3 piece Alum rod. Just a thought.
"I personally" use the Dewey rods and a SS rod for my pistols since I could not get a Dewey long enough for my Encore pistols.

I do have a steel break down cleaning rod for in the field if I plug the bore or get a stuck case. I have never needed it yet but it is small and feels good to have with me.

I also do not use oil on triggers/bolts. Something I learned at the SCI show when I went to a lecture on cleaning. Just flush them with lighter fluid and let dry. That leaves a lub film that does not freeze in very cold weather or collet dust and dirt in dusty weather.

I have had people tell me they cleaned their firearm real good. I like seeing the look on their face when I clean it again and all the stuff that comes out of the bore.

For some people ignorance is bliss.

A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

It's not rocket science, but some seem it is. If you have a foul bore, you have a problem and it's not a cleaning problem.

^^^ your experience seems to be limited, no?

once you start shooting .30 Cal or 7.62mm I guarantee you'll see copper fouling.

Always avoid cleaning from the muzzle end when possible. There should be no need to ever clean from the muzzle with your bolt action or S&W 15. Mini 14, be really careful with the crown.

The crown needs to be protected at all times.

Jointed rods should be a thing of the past.

One piece coted rod and wipe the rod with every pass.

Absolutely as I mentioned. I only shoot 22lr/223/556/9mm. I stated this at the start.
