CZ question... Hope you can answer.

I have been looking for a steel framed Cz P-01 to add to my collection. I have read that only 500 where imported to this country. The question I have is looking at pics of the slide some are stamped P-01 and some say 75 compact. What is the difference? Which one is the government contract one?

I Believe the p01 is the railed version of the compact 75.

Interesting. Didn't know they made a steel framed P-01. The picture on Bud's website shows it with the "compact" marking on the side. They either made them with both markings or Bud's has a rare compact in 9mm with a rail.

If I remember correctly, the CZ-75 compact in .40 sw has the accessory rail where as the 9mm version does not. The compact also has a safety whereas the P-01 has a decocker. The "steel P-01" on Bud's has a safety. Based on my observation, it looks like a compact .40 except in 9mm. Also, its out of stock so good luck.

edit: Forgot to add that the compacts are steel framed whereas the P-01 is typically aluminum.

The guns that I am looking at are both steel railed 9 mm. Both with a manual safeties. Just the stamps on the side of the rail is different.

I asked CZ USA about these pistols a few months ago. They were made for the US market due to demand. It's a non catalog item with no intention of making them a standard item. Half are marked compact and half aren't. FYI they said that there will be another batch imported later this year

I have the cz 75 P01 if I recall correctly it’s a steel frame that has a rail. I’m not a fan of the trigger.

We have the steel frame P-01 w/ manual safety. However its not CA compliant unlike the alloy framed counterpart.

Just get the one that says P-01. It'll clear up any confusion if anyone ask what it is. In reality, they're both probably the same thing considering CZ typically doesn't make a 75 compact 9 mm with a rail.

It looks like there is a bit of a weight difference with the steel frame coming in at 2.3 lb and the alloy at 1.75 lb.

the only one that is on roster is the .40 version that is very rare. they did make a 9mm a year or two ago I know a couple guys here we're showing them off. I've been looking for one for years. pretty much gave up.

It is the last one on my list. When I get it off to CGW. I might do the sig 365 though, but I would have to Feel how the grip is first. A guy up here is selling one for $1600 ugh...... What a rip.
