Gun Specific Sight Paint Or Testers Paint

I would like to color a few sight tips with paint, since there is a gunshow tomorrow does anyone remember how much a bottle goes for. Or has anyone used testers paint succesfully. Also does white need to be under a color to help reflect it or is the paint thick enough white wouldnt help . Found the paint on midway for $15, but not sure if the gunshow would be more then that.

Well im concerned about cleaning agents and oil, also it would look weird if I went to a store to buy nail polish, paint is easier for me to get
I jst read the reviews on the paint from midway and it doesnt seem to work to good as its waterbased, so I may go to a hobby shop and get some testers.

Never had an issue with cleaning agents affecting the nail polish. This is on a sight and how often do you directly spray it with solvents. Just wipe it down and you good to go. Getting some nail polish wont damage your man card too much besides some girls think it's sexy!

I've had better luck with model paints than nail polish, mostly because I want the brightest color I can get, and many colors of nail polish are a bit subdued.

A hobby shop's a good bet, and you can even get fluorescent colors. Bright green's my favorite for front sights, as it stands out against white, red, and black targets.

I'd recommend getting a few of each and trying it out for yourself. It'll become clear what works best for you pretty quickly.

do i need to apply white first as a reflective backer, or are the colors bright enough?

I used nail polish on my S&W 22A. I bought 3 tiny bottles of very brightly colored nail polish for like $3 to paint the front sight. It works so far so good and the best part is if I don't like the color, it only takes 1 min to take off the nail polish and change it to another color.

As for looking weird for buying nail polish, you can always say you're buying it for your sister/gf/wife.

just think of how PO'd the nail polish company would be if they knew you used their product for firearm purposes! +1 Testers, it not just for models any more.

The paint turned out really bright, hopefully it wont chip off. I found a florescent red and it matches my shotgun front sigh color almost exactly. No other base color was used.

All guns shown had a white dot already on the sight area.

Some reason websight wont let me use the image tab

Inside room no flash ( thats why its blurry ) compared to shotgun sight

The only let down was the stupid glock rear sight. Im not sure if im going to keep the front orange, it looks weird not matching with the back.

Does the Tester's model paint come off easily when compared to nail polish?

Well it seemed dry on the rear glock sight, and I was able to scratch it off with my finger nail. I never used it before so who knows once it sets up, but after 1/2 hr its dry to the touch. Im sure a harsh chemical could take it off if needed.
