Before buying from the calguns Marketplace

Ok, so I've never bought a gun before but I'm looking to buy my first. I'm 18 so it would be a rifle.

My understanding is that I just have to present "clear evidence of identity and age" with a driver's license to buy a gun.

For example, if I just wanted to do a FTF transfer with another member of the forum would we meet up at a gun dealer, I would pay him the cash, he would give the gun to the gun dealer, I would have to fill out some forms for the DROS, wait 10 days, come back and pick up the gun.

    Did I miss anything?

You're missing some very key items.

The only long arms you can buy face to face are long arms that are over 50 years old.

For everything else, you have to meet at an FFL and perform a PPT transaction which costs $35 and makes you wait 10 days to pick up the firearm.

It seems that he is describing a PPT as opposed to a FTF for a C&R long gun.

Inspect the long gun to make sure it is what you want or what the seller describes first.
