    Inheriting Firearms from Uncle

My uncle recently passed away and he named me in his will to inherit his firearms which includes 3 long guns and 3 pistols. I believe I have to PPT the firearms from the executor of his estate to myself. Is this the correct process? Any help would be appreciated.

    Yup...

You coordinate with the executor, who brings the guns to the ffl/gunstore...They have you pay the dros etc, 10 day wait like normal, and then theyre yours.

        This page has information:

Make sure and read to the bottom. There was an update that requires an FFL in most cases. You will need to get a firearm safety certificate before taking possession. If your uncle lived out of state the executor would need to do the transfer using a CA FFL.

Would the executor need a FSC?

Firearms from UNCLE. Funny I was thinking of something entirely different.

Sorry about your loss. Good luck with the transfer.

OP, remember, the one dros fee will pay for all the guns.

Hey, I am dealing with the same issue. Bumped instead of making a new thread.
The estate folk are in madera, Im out by the coast in monterey county.
They are old and not knowledgable, just older family friends, so its hard to understand what they mean when they tell me something, and they are very bad at texting.
So, two pistols from deceased uncle. Can they drop them off at a ffl in their area and then have them shipped out to an ffl near me? That would make it so easy. Im dealing with workers comp and driving is painful, so i cant drive myself out to madera/fresno area, 4 times, to pick up two different firearms. They rarely drive, so are trying not to drive out here. I dont think they understand that I cant just go pick them up and leave on the same day like they could. ugh.

Is the two pistols valuable or family heirlooms?

Handguns cannot be shipped, unless they are on-Roster.

If the handguns are off-Roster, then they need to be PPT'd to you by the executor of the estate.
^Both of you need to meet at a CA FFL dealer and do the transfer (4473/DROS/10 day wait).

Some ffls will want the seller/executor to have a fsc in case you don?t pass he background test. It?s not required, but that?s never stopped a ffl from demanding it if they felt like it that day. Best to confirm what the specific ffl you will use what their requirements are before making the trip there.

So, one is off roster. I just got some pictures and the serials today. Looking up the berretta still. I dont think it would be worth it to do a SSE. Would I actually need to, or since it is already in cali i can just ppt it?
