    Gun control Viedo / Debates

    I need some Help -

I had a recent discussion with a co-worker who believes that the only tool we need for self defense is a double barreled shotgun. Must have been listening to Joe Biden.
Could everyone post links to videos / You tube discussions, real life, acted or other events showing failed attempts of people trying to defend themselves and were not successful utilizing various tools. I have scene many but I never saved the links.

Hopefully Others might be able to utilize the videos to help them in future discussions / debates for gun control. The Millennials seam to gravitated toward watching videos.

My approach would be not to prove your co-worker wrong; rather drop some truth on him.

This guy explains it rather simply:

The conversation with your co-worker already took a wrong turn.

It seems you allowed the topic to get backed into a very limited scope - self defense in a home.

I would have asked how comfortable it would be to haul a sxs or ou shotgun with you everywhere you went.

Then I would have asked why isn't police hauling around double barrels only. Then I would have asked why the secret service doesn't, then the bodyguards. Then the military.

Then I would have discussed the 2nd amendment and what it is for.

Bottom line is this... even in countries where guns are banned government officials (high up), VIPs, royalty, etc are surrounded with people with guns. Why? Because guns ultimately create safe spaces for those individuals regardless of what the public has or can't have. Why does that work? Because guns are effective tools for stopping a threat at a distance. Therefore a safe space is created.

In US, each law abiding citizen has a right to create their own safe space for themselves and those they are willing to protect/defend. And this safe space is space from criminals, various dangerous animals, and yes, the government when it turns tyranical - like when it enacts laws that only apply to citizens and not the government or its employees.

And if we are to consider how much crime is stopped with guns, and then consider how important personal safety is to each individual we should hope to ensure that each individual has the ability to choose the most effective tooL for that individual.

I had a discussion only - No debate. I just listened to what was stated.
I was only looking for a thread so people could post links to defense and gun control debates so myself and others could reference them.
Thank you all for the advise but Links please.
And the title was purposely spelled wrong so it might generate more lookers.

The footage, released by the Gwinnett County Police Department, shows the intruders busting through the front door and rummaging the house in the attempted robbery in Gwinnett, Georgia.

            use this video.

tell this co-worker how this lady would have defended her home with only 2 shots when there was 3 criminals entering her house and they all split off in different directions.

Try Praguer U, their videos are meant to be easily relatable and just common sense...

                    The Federalist. November 7, 2017
The hero who stopped a gunman behind the deadly Texas church massacre said his AR-15 rifle enabled him to stop the bloodshed.

The former National Rifle Association instructor was home Sunday morning
when his daughter told Willeford she had heard gunshots from the nearby
Baptist church, prompting him to get his AR-15 rifle from his safe and load
a magazine. He ran to the church and confronted the alleged shooter, Devin
Patrick Kelley, who fired shots at Willeford. While taking cover behind a
pickup truck, Willeford fired several shots at the gunman, who sped
                    away in his car.

Stephen Willeford wasn't invited to the recent CNN town hall in which the
bloviating coward of Broward, Sheriff Scott Israel (aka Barney Fife), was
allowed to browbeat NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch about the evils of
guns in general and the AR-15 in general. Nor was he invited to the White
House meeting between President Trump and those affected by mass
shootings such as the one at Parkland.

He should have been at both, if only to remind both the grieving and the
self-righteous that guns in general and the AR-15 in particular, which has
been misrepresented by gun control zealots as an "assault rifle," can be
used by good guys to save lives as well as by bad guys to take them. He
is the hero of Sutherland Springs, Texas, who, hearing the sound of gunfire
at a nearby church, grabbed the AR-15 he had taught others to use as an N
RA instructor and chased down the mass murderer who had shot up the
First Baptist Church before he could continue his murder spree elsewhere:

For some reason, the Anti Gun Mass Media have already forgotten this
Mass Shooting, even though it killed more people than the last shooting.

Except... it didn't match their Anti Gun Narrative...

The Good Guy with a Gun was an NRA member and former Instructor,
using his own AR15 to severely wound the Killer, putting an end to
                    his rampage.

Funny how the Media conveniently forgets this.

Well, I think the ultimate red pill would be take actually invite your friend to the range, bring a shotgun, a pistol, and an AR (Make sure the shotgun is 12 gauge 00 buck hahah). Have him shoot the guns.

I think very soon he'll realize that shooting a shotgun is pretty punishing for newbs. While shotguns certainly can be effective home defense tools, it might make him rethink if it's the best option for everyone, especially women and smaller framed men. I think shooting a pistol tool will teach him that they are pretty inaccurate unless you constantly train. Personally I love the notion of using an AR for home defense (preferably an AR pistol in 300 blk, but CA is kind of stacked against me for that).

50% of violent encounters with strangers involve more than one stranger. You have no control over what arms the stranger(s) will use. So why limit yourself to only 2 shots with a double barrel shotgun against possible multiple encounters? If we had a sane state, we wouldn't limit ourselves to only 10 rounds either. If the coworker isn't against home defense per se, he shouldn't be against you choosing the best option available for you. If you choose an AR or semi-auto pistol, then he should have nothing to say as they are the best possible options to keep you safe.

Or you could put the burden on him. Make him prove why the only type of gun you need is a double barrel shotgun. Ask him if he would be OK with people open carrying shotguns everywhere; along with all the ensuing harassment lawsuits that would come from cops bothering people for carrying them.
My guess is that since he thinks we only need shotgun, he probably doesn't know anything about guns, ballistics, or tactics. Have him explain the tactical and ballistic reasoning for only using that type of gun and either 1) why it's superior to other types of guns/ammo combinations or 2) if it's inferior, explain why private citizens should be forced to use inferior weapons. If he recognizes it as inferior, force him into a corner. Obviously he doesn't value people's lives if he wants to force them to use an inferior weapon.
