Shotgun only area

If a BLM area in the desert has a sign "Shotgun Only," are you allowed to use air rifles?

I.e. For plinking or hunting jack rabbits.

I would call the local BLM office to be sure. Since an air rifle is not a shotgun, maybe no. But in unincorporated area, an air rifle shouldn't be considered a firearm so maybe okay.

Let them tell you, and make sure to get a name.
