Closed bolt Mac 10 AR upper that uses sten mags and just attaches onto a lower? Am I reading this right?

This is very similar to an upper assembly built by Bill Holmes - his fired from the open bolt and would be considered an NFA weapon if assembled onto an AR type semi lower.

This is interesting for the individual that has a pistol lower, but potential trouble for someone who doesn't.

there is a similar build over at Homegunsmith but without the kooky side-feed sten mag setup.
guy used a 0% AR10 lower as the base, came out pretty nice (sorry for giant pic, that's the way it was posted)

Time was when an "upper" had absolutely NOTHING to do with guns!!
Things usually turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out.

It is a A.R.C 9 manufactured by A.I.I. Inc. of Prescott, AZ in the early 80's, they were sold as a upper assy. or as a complete pistol with a sheet metal frame. I bought one at the ripe old age of 12 at the Pomona gun show in 1984 for if I remember correctly $199. It was used on a GM Hydra-matic M16A1 owned by a armored car company here in CA I still have it (the upper) somewhere around here. They were also made in .45 ACP that used grease gun magazines.
