Go to the gun show, buy some Molon Labe bumper stickers and beef jerky, fondle some guns then, if you haven't found a gun you like, go your LGS and buy from them.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Do not buy your first gun at the gun show.
Do not buy your first gun on the internet until you understand all the regulations.

You might want to go to a indoor range that rents firearms.
Glocks and 1911 have different style of triggers.

gun shows are overpriced. $10+ for parking, then $10+ for entrance fees.

Then inside there really isn't anything there are you will find at a discount. Maybe ammo but that's cause we can't buy online and I'm sure most people probably already purchased ammo.

Go to a local shooting range for some instruction before deciding to make a purchase. I did this at OC Indoor Shooting Range in Brea and loved it.

They started with general safety, then moved to proper handling, and then slowly built up towards live fire shooting. I got to shoot 5 different guns and got a 30 day membership to try out any rental guns they had in stock.

Don't go to a gun show to buy a gun.

Your first gun should probably be a .22 rifle, but an AR15 or a pump shotgun aren't bad choices.

Gun shows are a joke. The last good gun show was at the Pomona Fairgrounds about 30 years ago. Not to mention the admin fee and parking, you'll drop $40 before you even get in the show, so add that to what ever you buy. No deal on components at that rate. Hell, even makes the beef jerkey not worth the effort.

BTW, as mentioned above, any girlfriend that is taking you to a gun show, is a keeper! And if she has a sister that is single, provide the info here! Many guys are looking for gun female friends.

Get training, don’t buy cheap gun, rent first several guns to see what you like. Get safe and keep gun away from unauthorized people. Did I mentioned get training?
