What's the process now for buying ammo?

i understand no more online sales.
have all the local gun dealers gotten there ammo sales permits by now?

so my only choice is to buy from them?
is it possible to buy online but ship to FFL/ammo dealer?
if so, what amount for transfer fee should i expect?

Plenty of threads on this. In short it hasn't changed on the buyer's side yet at retail stores, but it will as the new law phases in. No more mail order sales unless you have a FFL (US) and a COE(CA). The FFL can be a 03 type - C & R.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

I just bought some ammo from a local FFL and it didn't go how I expected it would considering the new laws. It was my first time this year buying ammo and so I figured I'd at least have to sign for something.

Instead, it was just an exchange of cash and then the ammo was mine to walk out the door with.

i'm sure there are plenty of threads on it. I've been told that some FFL's are accepting mail the customers mail orders, then they just transfer it over.

All CA FFL dealers were automatically granted ammunition vendor licenses.

          No.

          Yes.

$5 ammo transfer fee + however much the CA FFL dealer want to charge for storage & handling of the ammo that is shipped to them.

That is true. Some, like http://freedommunitions.com have a program where they enroll FFL's into there system. I'm sure that there are others that also have a program like that. But why bother, just get a FFL(03) and a COE and do it while you still can get the CA COE. Then it comes to your door again WITHOUT CA sales tax!!! When you go through the FFL to get it as with a retail store, you pay sales tax.

cool story, chief. In fact, do you have time to tell it again? I appreciate you taking the time to contribute thoughtfully to this discussion.

Well, he just might be talking about the hundreds of threads that have been discussing it for nearly the past 2.5 years as the legislation and/or Prop 63 on it worked it's way through committees and/or was up for a vote, as the NRA-ILA and CRPA sent out countless notices and calls for help in fighting it with warnings of what the results would be, as we fought it with tireless effort, as we warned people about it, as we asked people to contact their legislators over it, as we were notifying people of the petitions about it, the bumper stickers, the fliers, the tables at dealers, booths at guns shows, as we saw so many apathetic gun owners do nothing about it, even avoid signing the petitions against it without taking so much as a feigned interest, and then as the changes have been hammered out here time and time again on what to watch out for, how to fight it in its aftermath, what are the exceptions, where the law applies and on what dates, the damage done, the push for legal action against it (on-going, pay attention please)......

...you coming here now 16 months after it was voted into law, and 2 months after the law took its first initial step, only to get worse in 2019, with inane questions about "what's the process" makes you look like an idiot for not seeking out information on it sooner, and being so blatantly in avoidance of giving at least a small amount of attention to your 2nd Amendment rights, but that you look like an even bigger idiot for even commenting on someone making you further aware of something that every gun owner in California should know.

Lame apathy, chief. In fact, do you have time to not do it again? I would appreciate you taking some time to contribute thoughtfully to preserving your 2nd Amendment rights.

Nothing has changed. I bought ammo last week. It was the same thing I go through in Maine or Oregon.

I think targetsportsusa also has a similar program. I still order online and have it shipped to my door.

                        .
You forgot to open your original post with "I searched but didn't find anything". 2500 threads searching "buying ammo" enough?
