Lt Col. Ralph Peters was on FOX this morning. He was saying ban the AR-15.
Then he went off on a mentally ill tangent about the 2nd admendment. He claimed that if you take it literally (in modern not colonial English he failed to mention) the amendment says "right to bear arms, not firearms"!
I fully expected this ex-military mensa to say you have the right to collect and own black bear limbs! How did this guy ever get into the military?Comment

I was on board with the top PoV but I have to admit you have a solid point there. While the article is good (not great) they make several "standard mistakes" common to journalists not really familiar with firearms: "assault rifle","high capacity magazine", are all nomenclature prevalent in the anti-gun culture. The author does, however, at least reasonably define "assault weapon" as we here in CA know it (SACF that looks like something from the modern military).
Also, the picture is captioned as being from "Ringmasters in Springville, Utah" it is Rangemasters of Utah and I go there when I visit my sons and it is too cold to go out to BLM on the west side of the valley to shoot.
I would prefer that journalists were more meticulous about what it is that they publish. They all seem too rushed to get stuff up on the internet to worry about spellchecking, editorial review, let alone fact checking."No personal computer will ever have gigabytes of RAM" - Scott NuddsComment

A Direct Reply from Yahoo News' Senior Editor
It took a couple of days, but Yahoo News Senior Editor Jerry Adler has posted a direct reply to the National Review pieced entitled...
Jefferson's 'tree of liberty' and the blood of schoolchildren
Interestingly, the tag I followed to get there was titled "The Worst Reason of All To Own a Gun."
Anyway...
Let's say it's a bit snarky. A good deal of it is simply trotting out the anti-civil rights talking points. However, his conclusion is......There are many contenders for the worst ideas to emerge in the wake of the Parkland massacre, but I’d like to nominate this column by National Review writer David French... French argued against banning semiautomatic assault-style rifles on the grounds that we might need them to fight a reprise of the American Revolution... The idea that Americans should arm themselves to fight “state overreach” is a staple of gun-rights groups and politicians occupying the political terrain that runs rightward roughly from the NRA to the edge of the earth...
I just thought it would be interesting to juxtapose the two pieces.Comment
