"DROS" is the collapsed term for 3 distinct fees, all of which go directly to the CA gov't
What fees do I charge a firearm purchaser?

In addition to the state's $19.00 DROS fee, you must also charge a $1.00 Firearms Safety fee and a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement fee. If the transaction being processed is a dealer sale, consignment return, or return from pawn, you may impose other charges as long as this amount is clearly shown as a "dealer fee" and not misrepresented as a state fee.
          https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/dlrfaqs

The total of state fees is always $25 for a single firearm transfer.

Except for PPT, where the dealer fee is limited by law to $10 per firearm beyond the state fees, dealer fees may be whatever the dealer decides is appropriate.

            FTF PPT, they are wrong.

Everything else, well, different rules apply to those.

OP said $60 plus tax. More than likely he is purchasing a firearm online and having it shipped to the pawn shop. $60 is relatively cheap as most charge between $75-$125. And yes they will have to collect sales tax for your online purchase if it is outside of CA.

If it is a Face To Face purchase, then the most they can charge is $35.

7500 posts....you think you would get this whole starting a thread thing right...

Starts a thread ranting about a place...and their website.

OP doesn't post a link for the website, or the name of the place.

in all likelihood, that's what they charge for a transfer that is NOT a PPT.

$60 including DROS + tax would be a deal; most places here charge $25 for DROS and $70+ for dealer transfer fee.
