Please answer Live Scan for COE question

I got my Live scan done at Express Pack & Ship in Winnetka and she botched it and when I went back to get it fixed she blamed a Govt shutdown and refused a refund...didnt even read the DOJ email they sent me saying the ATI # provided was for something else...I am now disputing the charge with my Credit card company

So I called another place and i asked him for a quote...i gave them the ORI # and he didnt know which category I fit from his choices from the results on his computer after entering the ORI #

Is there anything I can tell him to make sure he does it right and I get a correct ATI#?

Just find a different livescan location and get the CC disputed. Can't fix stupid people.

As long as the 8016 form is filled out completely, it should be a non-issue for the livescan worker.

That being said, make sure your 8016 has all of the info showing, and that it may require a non-mobile PDF viewer to print the document properly.

The only thing the livescan operator can charge more or less for is the actual fingerprinting. That usually doesn't change on where the information is sent. I think the other two fees are $50 for the DOJ and $21 for the Feds and that doesn't change. If I get the numbers slightly off, don't ream me over it, it's just from memory.

and I got my COE today... a day after submitting a new ATI number

so do I have to carry this 8X10 piece of paper when I need to use it or will I get a wallet sized one or .............?

Best to have a backup paper copy, but I just downloaded the PDF and approval letter from CFARS and have that on my phone. I can print them if necessary.

Most people who would want to see it would make note of the issue number on the certificate and date of expiry. The only way to verify if it's legit anyway would be to call DOJ for an 03 transaction. Otherwise it's input into the DROS application or CFARS C&R reg. unless I'm mistaken.

Police departments can do Live Scan, although some don't like doing them, and they usually charge less than a private company.
