    ID requirements for purchasing firearms

All the guns my family has purchased over the years, have all been under my Father's name. Now I'm going to be purchasing my own soon (AR15 lower) and recently turning 18 I now know my school ID doesn't work anymore.

I'm going to the DMV tomorrow to apply for my Calli ID. I know it takes like a month or something to get your actual card and that you also get a 'receipt' printout of your ID for use for it before the actual card arrives in the mail. Is this ID print out sufficient to purchase a firearm?

No. The receipt even states that it is not identification on it. You will have to wait until you have the actual ID.

The receipt is good enough for the bank to open an account, if it's good enough for the bank then it has to have some sort of ID on it then right?

DMV temporarily print put is not a good enough.

          Penal Code 12071
(c)(1) As used in this article, "clear evidence of his or her identity and age" means either of the following:
          (A) A valid California driver's license.
          (B) A valid California identification card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

If you don't like the answer, then you shouldn't ask the question. Opening a bank acct. and buying a firearm is not the same thing.

                FYI.
Persons under the age of 21, can not purchase/transfer a stripped lower reciever.
Persons 18 years or older, can purchase a rifle/shotgun.

The AR lower you want to buy, needs to have a shoulder stock attached for it. Otherwise, you need to be 21 in order to buy it.

I wasn't saying that I didn't like the answer. You said that the receipt is not a form of ID in anyway. I responded to say that it's a form of ID enough for the bank. I'm just trying to find the answer between it.

Damn, that screws up my whole plan.

You sound just like my kids, so I will tell you the same thing I would tell them. What part of the word NO did you not understand. There is no "answer between it". The only answer is NO. The receipt is not valid ID. NO! NO! NO!

Is it allowed for me to come in with a buttstock, have it installed then purchase it? Or am I going to have to get someone 21+ to purchase?

Depends on the FFL dealer. A few will and most won't. It's their prerogative.

The temporary DMV print out is not valid ID to purchase a firearm.
It's also not a valid ID to claim a jackpot in a casino or from the CA lottery.

Any idea if Ade's is known to allow this?
