It's actually the best looking one I've seen.

I'd like to see it on the complete rifle.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I could be terribly wrong but I thought that wasn't considered featureless.

Nope, it isn't. I believe it's New York legal, but California illegal. It's illegal because you can wrap the web of you finger and thumb around it below the action.

The BoAR grip is the closest to the one in the OP that's supposedly CA legal.

Can you get a pistol style grasp with this? Does it protrude conspicously beneath the action? Doesn't look like it to me, if not then this is CA legal.

                (d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon”
means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger
hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the
exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
I would argue that you cannot get a pistol style grasp. I probably would not use that trigger guard though.

And yes, this is one of the fugliest, least functional compliance grips I have ever seen.

Interesting. Its really going to depend on how "pistol style grip" is defined. If the definition includes "fingers" wrapping around the grip, it could be CA legal.

That trigger guard could complicate things, but it is NOT part of the grip...

These designs are the best IMO. And there is no legal ambiguity. They are NOT pistol grips. Yet you can wrap your thumb around them rifle buttstock style. (But notice the web of your thumb is forced above the exposed portion of the trigger.)

I tried the BoAR. (I've tried pretty much ALL of them.) And I did not like it. I could not get my finger on the trigger without causing painful strain.

And the one the OP posted is definitely a pistol grip under California law. You can grasp it with the web of your thumb below the exposed portion of the trigger.

After considering the direction of things in CA, if rather have a fugly rifle with a normal mag release, that I may have to eventually register, that a BBRAW.

No good. That grip doesn't meet the requirement.
