So it wouldn’t be a PPT since your not a CA resident anymore. It would just be an interstate sale which must go through an FFL and buyer must wait 10 days. Everything would have to be on roster (handguns) and same for rifles shotguns ie maglocked according to new regs or featureless. .

If you are now a Nevada resident, you can't do a PPT. The PPT is between two CA residents. The FFL can still do the transfer, but they can charge whatever fees that they want.

True it is an interstate transfer not a PPT since you do not have a valid Ca DL or ID. Not every shop owner will accept a walk in interstate transfer so that may be your hang up. Noting in law requires it to be shipped in though, so you may want to shop around. Also it is going to cost more than the $35 for a PPT, the dealer may set his own price.

How were the sales last week handled, did you still have a valid CA DL? If not the dealer may have some explaining to do, especially if he did them as PPT's.

But it does matter to the FFL. It very much matters.

Problem number one is asking for or using the term PPT. That is where it went off the rails.

You want a DEALER TRANSFER. You should be asking for a DEALER TRANSFER. You should no longer use the term PPT. And you should check BEFORE you arrive, that the dealer is willing to process a WALK IN DEALER TRANSFER from a NON LICENSEE.

Non licensee means you are not a FFL. Not all dealers will do these, and they are not required to.

And as noted, these are subject to a different fee than a PPT between CA residents, so when you are calling around and find a dealer who is willing to accept a walk in dealer transfer from a non-licensee, also find out what fee they charge so there is not yet another surprise.

It isn't clear to me from what you posted that you are already a NV resident or you are moving there, but my understanding is that while there is nothing in the law requiring it, you need a CDL to be able to do a PPT since the FFL needs to swipe it into their terminal.

I suspect that no one can unravel just what you need to do unless you are more specific about the move and cancellation of your CDL.

Since he need's to have a valid CDL or ID card to do a PPT in Ca, I'm not too sure what part of his statement that he did not have a valid CDL is confusing to you.

The sales last week were just ran as PPT’s. I didn’t have a valid CA license then either. He just photocopied my old one and the NV DMV paperwork.

Sounds like the dealer may have stepped in it. Now will DOJ catch it before the 10 days are up is the real question. I'm sure they will catch it when the next audit occur's at the dealer, and he may have some explaining to do.
