I am giving one of my handguns to my nephew as he wanted a 9mm glock. I have two handguns, but one of them has seen a lot of rounds. The other one is essentially new so I want to give him the new one but it came in .40S&W as it's a g22. Regarding the frame, is the ejector the only item that is different? I can swap out the trigger housing and simply install the 17 slide. Would there be any other modifications to make it 100% for a 9mm aside from the magazines, slide assembly etc?

I have a complete 17 slide assembly that is essentially new. But I didn't want to give him the frame that has seen over 10000 rounds. So the serial numbers won't match, but he doesn't care about that.

The ejector should be the only part you need to change on the 22 lower to be able to put a 17 slide on it. You don't have to replace the whole assembly, just remove it, pull the ejector out with a pair of pliers, and put the 9mm one in. Locking blocks can be different, I'm assuming both pistols are newer than around 2002.

Yes they are both newer than 2002. Also I wonder if the ejector #30274 would be better to install over the #336 version? Since I'm making this change.

You do not need a new slide or ejector. All you need to buy is a 9mm barrel conversion made specifcally for the G22 AND a G17 mag. A G22 mag with 9mm ammo works but can jam and/or cause ejection issues. For reliability, a G17 mag is best.

This is the reason why I bought G22 and G23. You can have 2 guns in one.

40 cal mags have never been reliable on my 40-9 G23.
A .40 ejector will throw 9mm brass right at your forehead. Ask me how I know =P

Yes, you might as well do that now to head off potential brass to face issues. You can use the same ejector housing, just use a small blade flat screwdriver and pull out the ejector and replace with the Gen 4 ejector

I think I read on Glocktalk that a 19 complete slide works on a 23 frame. You just might get some wonky ejection patterns. If you put a 23 slide on a 19 frame the ejector may cause problems. It's like an 8.00 part though. easy to fix.
I would think it's the same with the 17 and 22
