    Went shooting today...

First time since October. Many life and work commitments prevented me from doing so.

I went to a private range I am a member of and brought 400 rounds of 9, 50 of 380 and 250 in 223. I finished it all.

Biggest surprise, I can still shoot

Biggest let down, changing from a flash hider to a linear comp messed up my zero on my AR. Had to spend 45 minutes setting up a target and zeroing the rifle at 100.

Biggest win, hearing the wife say "you smell like gun powder, go take a shower!"

Keeping it simple, I set up 1 steel IPSC, two 8 inch plates , 1 paper target stand and 2 cardboard barriers.

Practiced shooting from draw, kneeling, sitting, standing, prone, and from cover. Today was my first time to practice drawing my 380 AMT pistol from an IWB holster and shooting it with two hands, and also with one hand from cover. I was surprised how well I shot that little bugger. 10 yards into an IPSC steel plate, not a problem. Rapid shooting with the Camp 9 was awesome. Finally figured out how to keep it reliable, by cleaning the mags, and keeping the bolt dry (no lube).

    What a fun day.

Haven't gone in a couple months either. A little envious. Tough to beat a good day at the range. Maybe next Sunday.....

            Ain't it??

I go through several thousand rounds of 5.56 a year and it still doesn't get old.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend buying a shot timer and running some of the more popular drills. Talk about FUN!

We were in communist Chicago for the last 2 weeks. Got back friday and went out to our range this morning. Spent 4 hours there enjoying my selectfire uzi and doing some drills with my legion sao. My son got to shoot a friends saiga 12 sbs and now wants one. I'll cut down a vepr12 folder for him.Might even convert it to selectfire.

last time I shot was on the 30th of December, the range was packed, probably for the New Year eve celebration, basting off a few rounds at the range instead of in the air at midnight on 31 DEC 17

The desert here has been empty, just the way I like it. Haven't seen any park rangers nor BLM guys for quite a while.

I and the SO went on Saturday after about 2 months. Almost all lanes were taken and the air in the range was like Napalm in the morning.
I shot 9s and 45s (1911s of course) and she enjoyed shooting the rim fire 1911. No rifles at this range in van nuys.

I'm a member there and it is really annoying when the counter guy wants to magnet check every box of ammo. I mean he opened every box and took a round out to check.

Sound like you had fun. I went last week, but the wife went with me. She really like my GSG 1911 and claims it as hers. I was teaching her cousin, first time shooter, on handling pistols.

Her cousin did surprisingly well for the first time. Also let her husband fire my Walther P1, which is like his P38 and my 1911. He never shot a 1911 and loved the feel, how it handled and was surprised that the recoil wasn't as great as he thought it would be.

Then I had a chance to shoot as well. It's been a couple of months as well. The range master saw my target and commented that I appear to have done this before.
We are all Masters of our own Ship. It's the course changes that you make, that affect your life.

I'm not paranoid, I know they're out to get me.

I'm a member there as well and rarely shoot there anymore. I feel they don't treat the members as well as they used to.
