You can shoot 2 3/4" out of your 3" barrel. If you want to replace the barrel to have the ability to change chokes then by all means, go for it.
I don't know where you might find such a barrel locally but Midwest gun works is a good source for shotgun parts. They have a 28" barrel that accepts interchangeable Remchokes in stock for $254.
I would choose a 28" barrel for multipurpose use. It's a good all around length for a variety of uses.
The 1100 is so common, I'm sure there are many places from which you can source a replacement barrel.Comment

If you want your barrel shortened and threaded for screw in chokes check with R & D Custom barrel service.

smle-man you can't shoot clays at range with 22" most clubs won't allow it. get a 26" mod barrel and have fun. Then you could hunt with steel loads as well.Comment
