That is seriously one of the worst piece's of engineering I have seen in a long time. Piss poor placement of the mag release added bulk for 2 more rounds. A solution in search of an problem. I guess Remington never heard the phrase's "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and "just because we can doesn't mean we should". 870's were the gold standard for a long time, and they still works fine today. Hell the speed loader's a few of three gun shooter's are using is a better option.

I think they just decide to jump on the Black Ace Tactical/Mossberg detachable magazine on pump-action shotgun train.

And to avoid copyright issues, then went with the front magazine release design using proprietary magazines.

May not be done right but better than tube fed. Wish they would do it to the Versa Max. Hate tube fed loading. If tube fed was so good we would be using it with the AR and pistols. Box fed is the way to go. Now depending on Remington to do anything of quality in the last few years is asking quite a lot.

not bad for a tactical shotgun. would be much better if it was an automatic shotgun instead of a pump

Fewer restrictions on accessories if it is a pump.
