Loaded firearms in your safe - yes or no

i'd like to hear some pros and cons

having recently bought a safe i have plenty of room to store my magazines within it too - not too sure if i want loaded magazines inserted in the firearms, or, just have the magazines loaded and near the firearm

i just purchased two of these

maybe i'll just have the loaded magazines hanging right next to the firearm i used a label maker to mark all my firearms by model and magazine capacity, so there is very little chance of grabbing the wrong magazine

since i have a HD firearm near me im figuring that if im taking a firearm out of the safe the situation my not be as critical for time - of course, tell that to the guy who had to load his AR15 before he confronted the active church shooter

im my case the magazines will be loaded though, just not inserted in the mag well of the gun

    thoughts?

F* yea I keep loaded guns in the saf... I mean, if I had a safe full of guns, of course (at least) some of them would be loaded and ready to go. An unloaded gun is a paperweight.

I don't keep rifles loaded but I do keep some of my carry guns loaded. Anything loaded sits in a holster though. Thats how I know.

Some of my pistols in my safe are loaded. They are the ones I would grab if quickly needed besides my CCW.
I also have loaded rifle/pistol mags loose in the safe but not all of them.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

i would avoid keeping magazines full unless they are exercised regularly.

Springs wear but compressing and uncompressing repeatedly.. not from being compressed..

This has been restated a bazillion times on here.. keeping a mag loaded (spring under compression) does nothing to wear out the spring

They should do a mythbusters on this.. lol

So true, but pmags loaded to capacity could have trouble over time.

But not due to the spring

As for the thread topic.. only my carry guns are loaded in my safe. But I do have several loaded mags (metal USGI) for my long guns, in case of emergency, ready to go.

I keep one or two handguns loaded but not cocked.

PMags can be loaded if you use the dust cover. It puts less pressure on the lip.

Yes all handguns are always loaded. Rifle mags too.

everyone is entitled to have an opinion.
i am sure you are trying to help, rather than simply trying to justify your own routines.

Alright, here's the context of my question: I have a pistol for home defense, and I keep a magazine loaded with ammunition in case I ever had to use it. Otherwise, I'd have to scuffle around and load the magazine before it could be used for its intended purpose, and that would sort of...
