I'm sure everybody has seen those prototype of rail guns that the Navy is working on. Basically a projectile propelled by electricity. Supposing the day comes they are able to create one in the form of a rifle or even a handgun. A battery power source is say to suffice. Would you consider one? Replacement for gun powder?
I myself would never replace gun powder, thank God for the Chinese.
An electric gun would have 2 Achilles's heels. EMP and power source. EMP is obvious. Then there's the power source. If it's a SHTF situation there would likely be no power. No power and you can't charge your gun. Also as with every battery, prolonged lack of use and the charge level goes down. Not to mention batteries lose their capacity to hold a charge over time. Heck, most ammunition from WWII would probably still fire.
Analog, mechanical and gun powder is best.
