    NRA and the NSA....

I was reading an article about the band TOOL and it said that the lead singer meynard is member of the NRA. When asked why he said that he loves guns, and the NRA protects him from being phone tapped or otherwise bothered by the NSA...... anybody know if this really true? It said something to the affect of being a gun owner protects them from doing so. That doesnt really sound true - can anyone confirm or deny this?
a gun in the hand is worth more than a cop on the phone.

Some people aren't very bright, and the lead singer of TOOL would probably fall into that category.

It didnt seem like it made much sense....
I've heard other stories about this guy messing with reporters that didnt do research on the band first...

I had the pleasure of meeting the guys from TOOL once a couple years ago. They are some of the most scarry smart guys I have ever met. Though I do not know if he is a gun fan or not, I would guess he was messing with whoever the interviewer was. The guy has internal demons. ANY one who comes up with the music this guy does has to have demons. Nice guy. On a side note, the guitar player from DROWNING POOL, CJ Peirce is a gun nut. I invited him to go shooting and as soon as he heads back into the central valley we shall be throwing lead downrange.

In the very very long term he might be right in that a government with a well armed population will likely not get as out of hand as one with an unarmed population. I doubt that he was thinking in those terms.

Forgive me, but I watched "V for Vendetta" last night so I'm thinking about oppressive governments with unarmed populations today.

Christian Bale and Sean Bean! One man against the system! Equilibrium is now on the top of my Netflix queue - thanks for the heads up.

My favorite line in V for Vendetta is when Finch replies to the the question of what will happen next with "What usually happens when people without guns stand up to people *with* guns"

Well Scotto - if you take a look at the NRA mission, they work to uphold all of the Bill of Rights, not just the second ammendment.
