    Finding history of your guns?

I've already done a search here, and on other sites but no luck. Is there a source where I can put in the serial numbers to find the date of manufacture, how many made ect...? Thanks

Depending on which manufacturer and how old the gun is, you success rate will vary. Many makers offer a service for a fee ($30-$80) to look up their records to see when the gun shipped and any historical info - such as the configuration of the gun, finish, where it was shipped to, etc.

If you have a Smith & Wesson, post the serial number in the format of K-123xxx and I or others can probably give you the year (or year-range) of manufacture.
