Do I have to be present at dealer for FFL to FFL transfer

Question about an FFL to FFL transfer process. Do I have to be in-person & present at the dealer to get the selling FFL to ship it to my local FFL for pick-up/DROS?

No. You can buy on line from riflrgear, KYguncompany, grabagun, galleryofguns, etc or any competent FFL and ask them to ship it to the FFL of your choice in CA. when it arrives, the receiving ffl calls you to come and Dross it.

The FFL transfer fee is paid, when I go to the store to start the DROS?

        Depends.
If you buy from Gallery of Guns, there is nominal fee for shipping and receiving which is included in your total but is in addition to the price of the gun. It is itemized. You will see it. It is kind of like your dealer ordering from his own warehouse. All others, you pay for the gun plus shipping to the selling FFL. The receiving FFL WILL charge you a receiving fee which is anywhere from $75 to $150 or even more depending on the dealer. There are some pawn shops that charge less for receiving.

          That's normally how it's done.

You order the firearm and specify where it's shipped.
After the firearm reaches your local FFL, you go start the DROS.
After ten 24-hour periods have lapsed, you go pickup.
