Thoughts on Hollon Safes?

Hey all,

So I have been reaching out to a few safes shops in the bay and of the 3 I contact they seem to have recommended me to check out Hollon Safes. My budget is around 1k and they all say this is the best brand for the money. And the specs seem decent

I have a quote from one dealer for 1k delivered and installed for a Blackhawk 12 gun, 700 for the hunter (larger but a rental unit they have) which seem great till I noticed both are not UL RSC rated. I reached out to Hollon and they said that UL ratings are fickle and that it cost a lot of money to just get them certified for small changes but they meet the specs called out.

Does anyone here own a Hollon safe?? Are they the best bang for the buck? I am in contact with Liberty dealer in SJ and the best quote they have for me a Revere 23 for 1300 delivered tax included.

I recently did a lot of research on a home safe, but not for long guns. I was mostly concerned with burglary risks. Since I would want to store handguns in my home safe, I also paid attention to CA DOJ regs around gun safes as an alternative to gun safety devices.

I found Hollon to be be one of several contenders in terms of manufacturers for burglary protection (but didn't look as closely at fire resistance). Unfortunately, I also found Hollon to be a little bit misleading / withholding in terms of info on the money chests / burglary rated safes (specifically, their "B"-rated safes / chests). This instance of apparent misleading / withholding does not appear to be applicable to your possible safe choices. The links you shared clearly state the gauge / thickness of steel in the safes' bodies. I liked Hollon for their attention to detail, the quality of aspects of their design and construction, and the fact that they are made in the USA (at least the ones I was looking at). Hollon ultimately didn't work for me, but from what I see on your possible choices, I think they may work for you.

In sum, I think Hollon may very well be a good option compared to a lot of the safes / security cabinets that are often sold in big box stores / LGS, especially if you're prepared to spend a little more (and get more) than a chain store offers.
