I need to send a shotgun out for repairs. Can I just send the receiver as the firearm and send the stock and barrel out as parts to save on shipping is that legal. Any advice?

The last time I shipped a shotgun for repair, I took both stock and forearm off, (Remington 870) and just send the barrel, receiver and internal parts. Unless the stock and forearm are needed as part of the repair, why send them. It made for a much shorter package, and saved some money. I used the USPS and had no issue of any sort. -
Or if you need to send the stock box it up and still use USPS. I have done so and never had any trouble.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I called ups and they said guns have to be sent overnight delivery for any carrier. I'm getting an old gun I inherited restored so the whole gun needs to go out. I figured I could ship the barrel and stock out 3day and ship the receiver out overnight.Comment

That's not true. You can send regular ground. I have done it twice now to get a rifle repaired under warranty. You might need to go to a hub . Lucky for me, the hub is just 4 miles away.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
