    Advise for a buddy

Sorry if this is the wrong section. Please move if so.

So I have a hunting buddy that is 30 y/o, been duck hunting with him since middle school.

In about 2012 when he was 24 he beat up some guy with a friend who was beating on his wife bad. Later she denied her husband assaulting her in court. He ended up Getting some felony charges that were then dropped to misdemeanors. The judge told them their firearm rights wouldn't be taken .

He's been hunting every season ever since. His benelli has always been in his dad's name, he got it when he was 14.

Well, I tried to sell him a different shotgun last year (obviously at a FFL) his dros got denied and i was returned the gun.

He tried getting a hold of his private lawyer from that case but he has retired.

How can he find out exactly what's going on with his firearm eligibility without hiring a lawyer and spend $$?

The DOJ has a form you can submit. But that would be a waste of time and money since he already knows he will be denied the DROS.

he can go to the courthouse and ask the clerk for his records and go from there.

Petition to expunge the misdemeanor, if possible, and wait till confirmation.

Hardest part will be county workers filing and submitting paperwork to all the different agencies.

And find out if hes on summary probation. Judge might have slapped him on a 5 or 10 year summary probation. Meaning no P. Officer.

If he has money just tell him to hire 2A attorney Chuck Michell

Have him contact an experienced gun lawyer. For example: https://www.gunlaw.com/

What area does he live? What were his charges, exactly. Does he still have any paperwork?
