Kappy shoots every weekend and he swears by them.

Wears them all day and says he forgets they are in sometimes.

Disclaimer, i bought peltor electronic muffs just because.

What I'd like to find is true medical-grade hearing aids that have sound-pressure or waveform cutoff for shooting.

I see a few different makes of in-ear canal shooting earpro, and some have vocal frequency enhancement, but what exactly is the difference between the $100-500 shooting specific ones and the $1500+ hearing aid-specific models from major retailers? The Siemens line has things like Bluetooth streaming and TV connectivity, too, and controllable by a phone app.

Please enlighten me, as this seems it would be a good CCW accessory...bionic hearing, music streaming and instant earpro if you need it.

I've never had luck with any off the shelf "inside the ear" protection. They all tend to fit a bit off and allow the sound to pass. It might be that the shape of my ear canals is atypical, or it's just that "one size fits all" is not a good concept.

However, just a few weeks back I had hand-fitted ear plugs made by Ear Armor (local Southern CA company). Those are a completely different story. They fit perfectly and work amazingly well. I actually bought two pairs on the spot. Many of the USPSA shooters wear them and they work really great in the desert heat.

I'll let you know. They should be hear (ha!) tomorrow or Wednesday. Ordered from Midway for $89. Best price I could find. Didn't want to deal with ear muffs as I hate using them.

http://www.espamerica.com/ are basically medical grade hearing aids that work really well. I use them to watch TV at what my wife calls "normal" volume. I also use them for yard work, mowing the lawn and every weekend in the garage. I can put them on in the morning and remove them when I go to bed, I like being in the garage and having the hearing protection for also hear the music from the garage radio. He also has bluetooth options that I think are silly but that is just me. I got his "industrial" ones so I can change the cutoff frrom 90db to 85db with a switch, I find my table saw is below 90db since they didnt cut out from the table saw, every other tool in my shop is above 90. Oh yeah, I also shoot with them

These plugs only rate a 3.5 at Amazon. Lots of complaints about battery failure and short run time.

Depending on the manufacturer, some of the more expensive options, in addition to being custom molded to your ear also allows you to pick specific frequencies to enhance in the electronics as well as tune out certain frequencies more effectively. Many of these ear plugs manufacturers don't just sell to shooters. I'm an Ear Inc provider and our products also get quite a bit of business from musicians, people in motor sports and manufacturers who's workers deal with loud machinery on a daily basis.

i had them. i liked them until i lost them. only annoying thing was remembering to charge them overnight prior to using them. they also only last about 3 or 4 hours so not good enough for my all day events. doubling up with electronic ear muffs allowed me to hear whispers and still not be bothered under metal awnings at gun ranges.

I've got a set and they have worked well*. Mine have lasted long enough to participate in the LDF USPSA shoots at Pala which typically last 6 hours. I made custom earpieces using the Radians 2 part custom earplugs. It was pretty easy and they fit well.

I have the bluetooth version and I suggest not using it. Nothing is more startling than when in the middle of a course of fire you suddenly hear "Call from Mom". Of course I took the call and said let me call you back I'm in the middle of a gun fight.

*my first pair I bought had a wire break as it would cut out at times. I contacted Walker and they replaced them without a problem. the second pair has been going good for about 6 months now.
